Marijuana

I find the prosecution and imprisonment of marijuana users quite absurd. Unlike other legal drugs; alcohol; cigarettes; penicillin; and paracetamol. Cannabis is not poisonous and there is no possibility of a fatal overdose. There is no physical cravings induced by abstinance. And, interestingly, unlike alcohol and cigarettes marijuana has benefits as a therapeutic medicine, both preventative and curative. The range of ailments which the evidence shows alleviate include; glaucoma; multiple sclerosis; asthma; appatite deficiency in the case of AIDS; nausea experienced by cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy among others.

Its benefits are not just medicinal; the seed can be used to make soap, cosmetics and shampoos and is an excellent food source. Its fibre strands can be spun into thread and is the strongest long-lasting natural fibre in the plant kingdom. The hurds can be used to make paper, paints chipboard and even bricks. It can be transformed into biomass fuel to drive cars, vans &c.

This is just a little blurd mostly referencing 'Cannabis: Legalise and Utilise' ISBN 0-9535693-1-4
